Blue Peruvian Opal Rough

  This blue opal is some really nice material. Some may even be clear enough to facet. The color ranges from the translucent blue pictured above to a deeper blue, a lighter pastel milky blue, a green blue, and a very near green color . This blue opal rough comes with a little matrix on some of the pieces, some have opal and matrix veins, others have no matrix at all. This cabbing rough seems to be very stable with most pieces not having any signs of cracking. The very few stones I have seen with cracks I would assume came from the mining process, and not from crazing. The material was delivered dry and I have had it for nearly a month with no signs at all of further cracking. So this should be some real fun and easy opal rough to cut. This is a common opal ( no fire ) and will be sold in 3 cabbing grades. Due to the great price I received on this material I am able to offer the best price I have seen on the net.

C-2 = $0.60 per gram. This will be the material that is still very nice and gemmy but it has a little extra matrix or off color impuritys or dendrites.

C-3 = $0.30 per gram. This opal has one or more of the following. opal and matrix veins, and or a lot of matrix, and or off color impuritys. There is a lot of very good cutting rough in this grade, but you will need to put extra effort into it for the best cabs. Most of the deeper green blue colors are in this grade.
